Gone are the days when individuals considered cooking a task that needed to be done “just by women.” In the past, ladies were traditionally trusted to prepare the meals for the family, do the feeds and tidy the house, and be in charge of practically every domestic task.
But times have changed, and women now play various functions in society, unlike what women of the previous decades were accustomed to. This modification in gender roles has affected both females and males– especially regarding taking the lead cooking area.
Today, both males and females now value the art of cooking. People with remarkable cooking abilities are highly compensated.
Because of that, it is not surprising that both males and females now experience the stress that used to part and parcel of cooking.
Food, after all, has to do with pleasing the senses of individuals who partake of one’s cooking area developments.
Cooking and stress are not often associated with each other. The word “cooking” quickly indicates gustatory enjoyment and not tension which is frequently linked to one’s work at the office or problems in your home.
It must not be a surprise to understand that stress and anxiety now impact the males and ladies who cook as much as the salesman who attempts to satisfy his daily quotas or the manager who deals with massive organizational difficulties.
For instance, there are now more male cooks or chefs in restaurants. These kitchen area specialists follow a so-called “chef’s ladder” that specifies the rankings and specific tasks of everyone in the cooking area.
The head chef, or “Chef de Cuisine,” visualizes the meals by the restaurant’s dining concept.
Next would be the Executive Chef, who runs the whole kitchen, manage the costs, hire and fire personnel, revamp the menu, do specific administrative jobs.
Under them would be the Cook who makes the day-to-day specials, takes stock, monitors the staff, and does the hands-on work in the cooking area. Also called the “Expediter,” the Cook ensures that the food gets to the table promptly, which requires coordination and time management.
On the same level as the sous chef, the pastry chef is in charge of the pastry section of the dining establishment.
Mainly women are scheduled for ladies; this job needs the preparation of chocolates, souffle, and sweet pastries.
Under these chefs would be the line cooks who are the ones who prepare the food. The line cooks are divided according to their specific cooking specialty.
Another key kitchen member is the Chef de Garde Manger, who manages the cold food area with salads and desserts.
Suppose you have seen an episode on the t.v. In the Cooking program, Iron chef, you would probably understand how difficult it is to work as a chef or a line cook.
In that show, the video cameras usually reveal the tension and anxiety in the chef’s faces as they attempt to prepare a specific variety of meals under time pressure. Stress is also seen on the chef’s faces when the judges are tasting their dishes.
In another popular reality-based tv program called Hell’s Kitchen area, several individuals go into as contestants in a video game that is supposed to pick the next “big chef” in town.
Being a truth program, Hell’s Cooking area often reveals the stress and stress and anxiety on the faces of the entrants while the host screams and gets mad at them for refraining from doing particular things right in the kitchen.
Anxiety grips each candidate as they attempt to win the throne of being the next best chef.
