Rancho Texas is found on the outskirts of Puerto del Carmen and on one of our lots of journeys recently, we decided to spend a day out their with the kids. Rancho Texas features among its attractions, an Indian amphitheatre where we saw a spectacular display screen in falconry, a Nature Park where our kids viewed and even had fun with a few of the animals, a Goldmine Where the huge water-wheel runs water to gold-bearing sands and where the children can try to find concealed treasure and an Indian Village where they took a ride in an Indian canoes and visited the Tepees.
If you’re trying to find someplace for the adults, then why return when they host among the now legendary Rancho Texas Country and Western Nights.
We started our go to in the Nature Park, host to a wide variety of Animals and Birds. This area consists of ‘The Opera’- A round enclosure with a terrific variety of singing birds where you can experience amazing noises, ‘The Promenade of colour’– with its marvelous variety of birds and colours, ‘Liliput Farm’, where the children held the worlds tiniest stock and saw much bigger ones in the form of Turtles, Iguanas, Armadillos and Grassy field pet dogs.
Before we could finish, we were drawn in to crowd event in the Indian Amphitheatre (one of three live programs we would witness on the day).
When we calmed down, the guide captivated us with a wonderful falconry presentation, part of which involves the falcons flapping people on the head with thweir huge wings as they swoop from high gantries to the main ‘stage’.
After this, we took the kids to the Indian Village to soothe them down a bit. Our youngest (4 at the time) played in the Tepees, paddled a Canoes and discovered ‘Treasure’ having followed the water from the huge water-wheel to the gold-bearing sands. Our oldest (9 at the time) believed it was too young for him but agreed to ‘take care of his bro’ and plainly enjoyed himself, although he denied it at the time.
Next we were brought in to the restaurant location as we were notified that a 2nd show would start in 15 minutes time. Another excellent show and some great images for the family.
Our two boys wished to let off some steam, so we let them play for a short while in the experience play area, before returning to finish out trip of the animals.
Our third program of the day, was to be the very best.
Our ‘specialist’ returned (plainly multi-talented) and chose he ‘d delve into a pit with the Alligators. He then crept up behind one of them and had fun with it (in case you’re wondering, he has really quick reflexes). Toward completion of the show he chose to jump on the Alligator and sis ending included holding the Alligators mouth closed in between his chin and his chest– some show!
The kids were as astonished as we were and it just about rounded off a great day out and wonderful value at 14 Euros per adult and 9 Euros for the children (under twos are complimentary).
